Wore these on a rocky alpine scramble and the stiffness in the sole gave me solid edging on small holds without beating up my feet. Toe box felt precise on descents, though they took a couple hikes to break in around the ankles.

Wore these on a wet, rocky traverse last weekend and the GTX membrane kept my feet completely dry through stream crossings. The stiff sole edges hold beautifully on small footholds, which is exactly what I wanted for alpine terrain.
