Wore these up a steep, rocky scramble with a 40-pound pack, and the semi-cramponable construction gave me real confidence on mixed terrain. They felt sturdy under heavy loads, and the ankle support was noticeably better than my old approach shoes.

My old boots started delaminating on the second day of a hut-to-hut trip, but these handled the rocky descents with a loaded pack without a hint of flex. The semi-cramponable construction is a real plus if you ever plan to kick steps.

Took these up a glacier route with a 40-pound pack and the semi-cramponable sole held my G12s rock-solid the whole way. The ankle support stiffened up just right on the descents, though I did need a week of break-in before they felt truly mine.
